30-20-10 Returns for 2025-2026
The Nation’s Asynchronous National Tournament
Now with an Advanced Division
How it Works
30-20-10 is the successor to 3-2-1, and it works the same way. Clubs compete to answer 3-part questions, with one part appearing at a time; each part has the same answer, so if you get a correct answer on the first part (the hard part), you get 30 points; if on the second (the medium part), 20 points; and if on the third (the easy part), 10 points.
Over 750 teams competed in 30-20-10 in 2024-25, and virtually all enjoyed it! You can be a part of the next edition in Winter 2025.
We are now introducing a new, advanced level of 30-20-10: 30-20-10++! This is an advanced level meant for the very best High School teams. Are you up to the challenge?
For example, a question might read:
1st part (Hard): This composer wrote Piano Concerto No.5 in E-flat Major, nicknamed “Emperor”, in 1809 while Vienna was under siege.
2nd part (Medium): “The Memory of a Great Man” became the dedicatee of this composer’s Third Symphony after Napoleon Bonaparte crowned himself emperor, after which he retitled the symphony “Eroica”.
3rd part (Easy): Frederich Schiller’s Ode to Joy can be heard near the end of the Ninth Symphony by what German composer, who gradually became deaf by the end of his life?
ANSWER: Ludwig von Beethoven
Simple, right?
In the High School and 30-20-10++ competitions, there are 80 questions, for a total of 240 parts; in the Middle School and Elementary School competitions, there are 50 questions, for 150 parts.
